How to Achieve Real Personal Freedom

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

What I want most for you is freedom.

I don’t mean freedom from oppression and persecution, although political freedom is normally a prerequisite for the sort of freedom I’m speaking of.

What I want for you is the freedom to choose the life you want: the freedom to design your own life, the freedom to discover your potential, the freedom to express your highest self, the freedom to contribute.

“The objective is to create freedom of time and place and use both however you want.” –Timothy Ferriss¹

That could mean freedom from a job you hate, freedom from worrying about paying rent, and freedom from debt. That could mean freedom from anxiety, depression, and loneliness. That could mean freedom from distraction, numbing, and shame.2

That could mean the psychological freedom required to focus on what truly matters and take necessary risks. The great men and women of history were not distracted by email and TV. They did not tweet their messages. They took action beyond sharing ideas on Facebook. They took real action, bold action. They took risks. Our world needs you to be brave. Our world needs you to be free.

What I want for you is freedom from self-imposed limitations: freedom from unhelpful mindsets and limiting beliefs, freedom from feeling stuck, freedom from feeling trapped, freedom from bad habits.

“There is more than one sort of prison. … I sense that you carry yours wherever you go.” –Chirrut, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The freedom I speak of comes from self-mastery, from resourcefulness, and from knowing how to teach yourself whatever you need to know. This sort of freedom isn’t granted by The Constitution or The Bill of Rights; it’s earned through grit. This sort of freedom isn’t free.

Eventually, your hard work can liberate you from your 9-5 job. That guy on the side of the road offering to work for freedom is my brother, Nick Loper, and he has done just that. He has built a variety of income streams, several of them passive, which allows him to travel widely and be a stay-at-home dad. His podcast, The Side Hustle Show, teaches you how to earn extra income in your spare time.

But hard work isn’t enough. Technique matters too. Freedom is crafted by hands that wield tools. Freedom is won through strategies that are guided by an understanding of psychology and neuroscience.

And although everyone’s path to freedom is a personal journey, we aren’t meant to walk it alone. We need role models and mentors, teachers and tutors, coaches and companions.

That is my role. I will show you strategies and techniques that will help you succeed. I will help you develop the mindsets that inspire growth and ensure steady progress. I will teach you what you need to know about the mind and the brain. And I will share with you the wisdom of great people whose achievements far outshine my own.

I humbly offer my services to you as a coach, a guide, and a companion on the path of becoming better.

Your liberation awaits.
